Supply of KT002 gyrosphere to be discontinued in September 2015 (projected date)

August 1, 2012

End of supply for KT002 gyrosphere

To our valued customers

Please be advised of a decision to discontinue production of the KT002 gyrosphere.

Seventeen years ago, we stopped producing the last gyrocompass that used the KT002. To meet the service needs of our customers, we continued to supply the KT002.

It has become progressively more difficult to source certain parts and materials that are used in the KT002. Most recently we have been notified that a phenolated epoxy resin electrode used in this product will be discontinued in the near future. We have discussed this with the manufacturer and looked for other sources, but none could be found. Consequently, we have placed our last order for these electrodes and expect this supply to last about three years.

The exact date on which we discontinue supplying the KT002 will depend on how quickly the inventory is depleted, but we estimate it as being sometime around September 2015.
For customers with the following gyrocompass models, we recommend that they replace them with a new model.

Gyrocompass models that used the KT002:

Model Supplied
D1/D3 1970-1987
CMZ100/200/300 1981-1986
CMZ250X/CMZ300X 1986-1997

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, and ask for your kind understanding. For more information about the KT002,
